Kdrama recommendations for beginners

Hi again! Since I have no life and just want to help you all find a drama that you'll never forget, I'm here to recommend you beginners some drama!!! Yippee. Throughout my journey in kdramaland I have encountered some very beautiful and interesting kdrama but at the same time I have also stumbled upon some strange kdrama and ones that are so bad I wanted to strangle myself. So I wanted to give you beginners dramas that do not make you wanted to strangle yourselves.
So here are my top recommendations:
 1)City hunter:

Plot:
Basically it's about this guy who is super talented and intelligent, who works in the blue house. He secretly plots revenge on 5 politicians who are responsible for the death of his father.

Why I recommend it: sorry that my plot is a bit meh but I wanted it to be short and concise. But I recommend it as this drama has the potential to make you cry laugh and smile to youself like an idiot. It can be super serious but funny too. Think it was my 7th kdtama. The hairstyles are a bit meh but that's because that was the style in the year the kdrama was aired.

2) reply 1997:

Plot :
Set in the 1990's, "Reply 1997" follows female high high school student Shi-Won (Jung Eun-Ji), who idolizes boyband H.O.T and her 5 friends

Why I recommend it:

I copied and pasted that plot but I think the plot summary is no where near close to showing how good this drama is! Seriously I wouldn't watch it after seeing that plot. and that is why I didn't when it was released. I only watched it after 2 years after it aired, and It was at the very bottom of my kdramastowatch list. But my my this drama made me regret it so much that I didn't watch it sooner! It was a great heartwarming drama that was so realistic but beautiful at the same time. You'll cry your eyes out due to the comedy lol. And you'll also cry them out in certain scenes for other reasons. It shows you the reality of what teenagers go through growing up, and is one of the best dramas yet. It is the first of the reply trilogy.some people always mistake it for being the last, but it doesn't matter what order you watch them because they have nothing to do with each other than the fact they're all set in the past.

3) reply 1994

Plot: Set in 1994, six university students from various provincial areas of South Korea(Jeolla ProvinceChungcheong Province, andGyeongsang Province) live together at a boarding house in SinchonSeoul, which is run by a couple with a daughter named Na-jung.

Why it's recommend: Well it's the second of the reply trilogy. But like I said before it has nothing to do with reply1997. It is just as heartwarming as reply1997 but it weighs more on the friendship side of the story. It's just as cute and beautiful. In my opinion the soundtrack in this one is one of the best to exist in kdramas. It's beautiful. Many people had "fanwars" because they were arguing between which male lead should get the girl but I just had fun watching the drama even without the love story but the love story was equally as amazing as the rest of the drama. I was happy with the whole drama tbh.

4) reply 1988

Plot: a drama about 5 neighbouring families and their troubles

Why I recommend it: 3rd of the reply series and the best in my opinion even though I ABSOLUTELY HATED THE WAY THINGS TURNED OUT FOR A CERTAIN CHARACTER. But I'm over it now and I realise that the drama was teaching a lesson  (what the lesson was is for you to find out) this one is the latest out of the reply series and is one that I was watching while it aired. I loved every moment of it and it was a great experience waiting for each episode(Not) I was dying out of curiosity.however for me I was unsatisfied with the ending probably because of my shipping :'(
But it has a great soundtrack and it has the perfect proportion of romance, family, friendship and comedy out of all the reply series. It was wonderful even though I couldn't sleep for days because of the horrible ending  (again in my opinion)
But please do watch it. It's an amazing down to earth drama. Makes you cry the most and laugh the most too. Hilarious. Golden.

5) The king 2 hearts

Plot:The King 2 Hearts is set in modern day south korea. And is the story of the Crown prince who does not care about politics one bit, until his world turns upside down when the south and north join forces. And what will happen when he meets tough and not so feminine soldier kim hang ah.

Why I recommend it: two of my favourite leads ever. They're both perfect as leads but the male lead's character really is a bit of an a**. I felt so bad for the female leads character at times. He's so damn rude. But yes it was a GREAAAAAAATTTT DRAMA.  There is no love triangle or whatever because I am sick of having second lead syndrome  (a common phrase used to describe when a viewer roots for the second lead) but the drama does have a second couple which I loved as much as the first. There's a lot of action and romance and comedy. The drama will play around with your feelings so much that you won't know what you're feeling anymore. It's perfect for beginners as the story line is beyond gripping.

5) Boys over flowers

Plot: Geum Jan Di is an ordinary girl whose family owns a dry cleaning store.
While delivering dry cleaning to a student at the prestigious Shin Hwa High School, she saves his life by stopping his attempt at jumping off the roof and is given a full swimming scholarship.
She attends Shin Hwa High and soon is terrorised by the leader of F4 (the four richest and most popular boys at the school) Gu Jun Pyo.
Why it's recommend: to be honest I'm not recommending it. But I'd probably get killed by many fans for not recommending this seemingly obvious kdrama. It had a cliché plot: rich guy falls for poor girl. Having said that, it was actually my first kdrama. My friend recommended me it and I thought I would give it a go and I did. I watched the Japanese version hana yori dango and didn't even notice it was a Japanese drama lol. But i watched thr korean version straight after my friend didn't recognise the names i was reffering to. I preferred the Japanese one probably because I watched it first but the story line was the same and even the Japanese one wasn't something I would recommend to anybody. It was way too dramatic and cliché for my tastes. And the female lead had this really bad lisp that I could not get over. However lee min ho  (the male lead) has become one of my favourites actors ever.

If you want more beginners recommendations please comment for more and I'll be happy to blog. And if there is any other kdrama you want me to specifically blog about please comment that bellow. And if you are looking for a specific kdrama that you want please comment that as well and I will help you as soon as possible. Introduction to the blog

Hi, I'm Samantha and I wish to help you and guide you on the journey you are going through in kdramaland!

I'm sure that if you visited this page, that it is clear that you have either seen a few kdramas, or want to start to see some, or you're completely addicted!( I'm the third one ha)

For those who do not know what "kdrama" is, it is just a shortened version of the words "korean drama"

So first thing first. What's different about kdrama compared to other drama?

They are a lot more dramatic ALOT but trust me it's for the better haha. And the romance section of kdramas are far more romantic than any other dramas around the world.

Like any other country's dramas, there are many genres, however the most popular and dominated genre in kdrama land is romance, which could answer to why there are a whole lot more females who watch it than males

But don't worry their not all romance based. There are quite a lot of action and comedy based kdrama too.

From now on, every week I will be reviewing and recommending kdramas to beginners and addicted dramalanders. But don't worry I won't give away the story. What's the fun in that?

In the comments please tell me if there is a certain kdrama you're looking for so that I can help you because I am glad to help

And if you want me to review a specific kdrama I can do that too.

So stay tuned for every Saturday because I will always have a new kdrama to recommend.

Today's blog will be about what beginners should watch! I hope to see you all
